Plant A Seed, Grow A Reader
A program for all who live, love and work with young children
(with emphasis on the pre-school child)

Parents, caregivers and educators are invited to explore how simple nature activities enhance a child’s developmental skills.

Together we will plant seeds, experiment with water, explore the air around us take a mini-nature walk in the immediate environment, and watch videos. Each of these activities will be linked to appropriate children’s story and picture books. There will be an opportunity to share information and ideas about how simple nature activities help children develop pre-reading and pre-math skills, based on standard guidelines for what children need for a successful kindergarten experience.

Everyone will leave this workshop with a list of suggested family activities, a bibliography of appropriate books available through your local library, and suggestions of places to visit locally.

Children and Nature Workshop: Awakening a Sense of Awe and Wonder
A program for all who live, love and work with young children

“Children have a natural affinity towards nature. Dirt, water, plants, and small animals attract and hold children’s attention for hours, days, even a lifetime.” Robin C. Moore and Herb H Wong

This workshop is designed to re-awaken our own sense awe and wonder in the natural world as we introduce our children to the joy and beauty of nature,

Together we will explore why it is important to nurture and encourage a child’s on-going experiences with nature, and why children need to bond with the Earth as well as with the family. The presentation includes discussion, an overview of child developmental materials, video selections, hands-on activities, and an opportunity to explore a variety of resource materials.

Everyone will leave this workshop with a list of suggested family activities, a bibliography of relevant books for adults and children, suggestions of places to visit locally, and resource materials related to the workshop.
